As an instructor for a second-year nursing theory courses, Kateryna Metersky integrated case studies to create a more adaptable and responsive learning environment.
By curating these case studies as Open Educational Resources (OER), she has leveraged the e-text format to provide an ever-evolving collection of expert-reviewed case studies that address critical, contemporary subjects, such as anti-Black racism, Indigenous health practices, LGBTQ+ care, and medical assistance in dying.
Through integrating OER, Kateryna’s courses have become more inclusive, dynamic, and student-centered. The case studies empower students to engage more deeply with course content, contribute to the development of future learning materials, and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical practice.
