TA/GA Awards: Frincess Arbour

Princess Arbour

Course: CYC102 Laboratory Tutorial

Program: Child and Youth Care

Before beginning her position, Frincess took time to study the course outline in order to identify opportunities to enhance her students’ learning experience. For example, she invited a colleague from the early childhood field to speak to the class, giving students the a chance to ask questions and engage with an expert whose lived experienced differed from the viewpoints shared in the readings.

Frincess’ advice to new teaching assistants is to meet students where they are and to find ways to integrate their lived experiences into learning.

She finds it deeply rewarding when students seek her advice or share their achievements, reflecting her positive impact on their learning journey.

TA/GA Awards Program is to recognize, promote, and reward the contributions that teaching and graduate assistants (TA/GAs) make to enhance the quality of undergraduate student learning experiences at Toronto Metropolitan University.

It is administered by the Centre for Learning and Teaching Excellence at Toronto Metropolitan University.
