Providing students with the tools they needed to complete architectural assignments from home during the pandemic was a challenge. However, Vincent’s main concern was how to preserve the studio culture in a remote teaching environment.
The collaborative studio environment allows students to learn from each other while working on projects. It requires a level of trust that is more difficult to build remotely.
Through games, challenges, and other collegial opportunities, Vincent found ways to help students form bonds and develop trust from a distance. These bonds allowed them to feel safe sharing their designs, and sharing feedback.
In addition, Vincent found opportunities to host industry leaders from around the world. Some participated as guest speakers, while others provided feedback, something that was much more difficult to arrange when it required them to come to campus.
