Julián Zapata Rojas created instructional videos for his audiovisual translation course which drew upon his own experiences and helped his students engage and relate to the lesson. Students even discussed the video’s subtitles as part of the experience. His work exemplifies the many creative ways instructional video can be used not only in online courses, but in blended and face-to-face instruction.
To create this video, Zapata Rojas leveraged the studio and support provided by the Digital Learning Team at the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. After a consultation to determine the proper setup for his needs, Zapata Rojas wrote his script and made use of the studio’s teleprompter. The DL team provided additional visuals and text graphics added in the post production process.
After completing the first version of this video (in French), he returned to the studio to create a second version in Spanish, and returned again to produce materials related to his 2025 Learning and Teaching Grant.
